Our Services

Our student storage boxes are high-quality, heavy-duty boxes made from double-walled, corrugated cardboard. We also give you super-strong packing tape, to keep your stuff extra safe

We would ask that you read through our packing tips on student storage to make sure that your belongings will be safe. Our drivers are strong, but they’re not superheroes. To protect their backs, we ask that you stick to a 20kg limit.

With our student storage service you can choose from three different sizes -

  • Small - 45cm x 30cm x 30cm - Volume 40 Litres
  • Standard – 51cm x 41cm x 31cm - Volume 65 Litres
  • Large – 59cm x 40cm x 42cm - Volume 99 Litres

Student Storage Advice

1. Food or perishable goods

2. Antiques (breakable and fragile);

3. Items containing or made of glass (including mirrors);

4. Birds, fish, animals or any other living creature


5. Explosives weapons or ammunition

6. Any item which emits fumes, smell or odour

7. Combustible or flammable materials, liquids or compressed gases, including but not limited to, paint, diesel, petrol, oil, gas, artificial fertilizer or cleaning solvents

8. Chemicals, radioactive materials, biological agents

9. Toxic waste, asbestos or other materials of a dangerous nature Any other toxic, flammable or hazardous substance or preparations, classified as such under applicable law

10. Musical instruments in soft cases (hard travel cases are fine but we do not offer coverage for them

11. Illegal or stolen goods, drugs, pornographic material or any goods prohibited by the law or regulation of any government or public or local authority or goods that require special licence or government consent for export or import.

12. Money, deeds, securities, coins, cash or negotiable instruments (including cheques and any vouchers with a face value);

Please note that although we do accept some fragile items, including crockery, mugs etc., we do not offer coverage for them. If you are storing fragile items, please make sure they are thoroughly bubble wrapped (multiple layers) and carefully packed to ensure they are safe during transport.

We do accept electrical items, including TV's, Monitors and Printers, but please note that we do not offer coverage for them.

We recommend that you arrange your own student storage insurance to cover the value of these Goods .

We reserve the right to open your boxes if we suspect that the contents are in breach of our Terms of Service.

With Door2Door Student Storage you can store with us as long as you need, be it 1 month or over 1 year. When you place your student storage order you will get to choose how long you store for. If you are unsure of how long you would like to store for, don't worry, we will keep your items in storage until your re-delivery date. The longer you stay with Door2Door Student Storage the cheaper storage is (offer only available at checkout, we do not offer any storage discounts once your items are in storage).

Yes,you can store your own boxes! Own boxes need to be double-walled and securely packed. Own boxes also need to be labelled with your order number and our warehouse address:

Please be aware that we do not supply coverage for own boxes, we require students to take out their own insurance.

Yes! You can mix and match your order, for example you can store your own boxes and suitcases, or D2D boxes and your own boxes. All boxes should be made of double walled cardboard.

Here is a list of items we can collect, anything else will need to be securely packed in a box, there is a weight limit of 23kg per item:

  1. Boxes provided by Door2door
  2. Your own double walled boxes up to 75 x 52 x 40cm
  3. Your own suitcase
  4. Your own holdall
  5. Musical instruments in hard cases
  6. Sporting equipment in a hard travel case
  7. TVsin their original packaging.

If there is a specific item you would like to store which won't fit into a box, please let us know at info@door2doorstorage.com

Unless student storage order is being collected and returned to the same address, we would advise ordering with multiple people. If your order is being returned to separate delivery addresses please order separately.

In case of emergencies, we ask that all boxes/items are individually labelled so it is easier to separate orders. Re-delivery costs £6.76 per box. If you choose to separate your order, any extra re-deliveries will cost up to £20 per item per delivery.

Urgent student storage orders received, Monday to Friday (Excludes Bank Holidays), by 10am can be dispatched that day on a Next Day delivery. Urgent student storage orders received after 10am will be dispatched on the next working day. For an extra charge we can deliver boxes on a Saturday. Please contact us for details.

Payment

Our student storage pricing structure is designed to be transparent and straightforward.

The first payment you make to Door2Door student storage covers a comprehensive package that includes:

  • Packing Materials (boxes/tape/bubble wrap)
  • Delivery of Materials
  • First Months Storage
  • Re-delivery (for items ordered)

Please note that the Minimum Order Value is £70.00

Following the initial payment, you'll be charged a recurring monthly fee. This fee covers the cost of storing your student storage order and is determined by the amount of storage you require and the specific features included in your plan. This continues until the end of your contractual agreement. Things to be aware of:

  • Contract Length: The duration of your contract will impact the total cost. Longer contracts may offer discounted monthly rates. The number of months you choose on your order form, is how long your contract with us is for. For more information please look at question “Can I change my contract?”
  • Storage Capacity:The amount of items you store will directly affect your monthly fee. We offer various storage tiers to accommodate different requirements.
  • No Hidden Fees: We are committed to transparency. You'll receive a clear breakdown of all costs before signing any contract.

We encourage you to contact our student storage sales team for a personalized quote tailored to your specific needs.

You will be sent an invoice from Door2Door student storage every month until you re-delivery date to the email used on your order.

Our invoices are sent from our sister company Room2spare, if you are unsure if an invoice sent to you is from us please contact us! We are more than happy to confirm any invoices.

The number of months you choose on your student storage order form directly determines the length of your contract with us. For example, if you select a 4-month storage term, your contract will be for a total of 4 months. This means you are committing to and will be required to pay for the full 4-month duration of the agreed-upon service.

This ensures that we can guarantee your storage space and service availability for the entire term. Please be aware that early termination of the contract does not result in a cancellation of payments for the remaining months.

We want to make sure you fully understand our contract terms, please reach out to our customer support team if you have any questions.

Delivery

No, we don't deliver on weekends. Our delivery times are Monday-Friday between 9am-6pm

If you miss your scheduled student storage slot please email us to let us know as soon as possible. We will then re-book your pick up again.

Where possible, on the day of delivery you should recieve a notification (usually through your email provided on the student storage form) with a 2-hour time slot.

Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee that you’ll get a call from your student storage driver. We know not all students have a UK phone number so we will always contact you through email first.

If you have any urgent questions or queries please email us. Our working hours are 9am-5pm, Mon-Fri. Get in touch If there is anything that might make your delivery particularly tricky.

Collection

To ensure that your student storage collection goes smoothly, please:

  1. Be available for the full collection window.
    Your student storage collection could take place at any time within your chosen timeslot. Our student storage collections usually take place between 9am and 6pm. You need to be available at the delivery address throughout this time or allow another person like a receptionist to sign for your stuff on your behalf. Where possible, we’ll provide you with an 2-hours timeslot to help you plan your day. This’ll be emailed to you the evening before the delivery.
     
  2. Order is ready.
    Your student storage order must be ready on the ground floor or at reception. As well, please make sure all of your items are clearly labelled with your name and student storage Order number (e.g. SS1234). For the safety of our drivers they are not allowed to go into the student's accommodation.
     
  3. Tell us of any changes.
    If there are any changes to your student storage order e.g. more boxes/items, please let us know in advance so we can let our drivers know. If any changes have been made and we are unaware our drivers may only collect the original amount.

Please make sure that your boxes and suitcases are clearly labelled with your Name and student storage Order Number so that we can identify them!

If you’re sending a suitcase or holdall, it’s a good idea to add a luggage tag with your details and the best way of sticking on the labels is by sticking them to the handle or anywhere that isn’t fabric. Don’t risk your label falling off, or we won’t be able to find your items.

Yes, of course. If you want to change the number of boxes you’re storing or you need to alter any specific collection instructions, please email us at info@door2doorstorage.comby 12pm 2 working days before your collection day. If your collection is on a Monday, then get in touch by 12pm the Thursday before.

If you decide to change your student storage collection date, please let us know as soon as possible and no later than 10am the day before your intended collection (get in touch by 10am Friday if it’s happening on the following Monday!)

We can collect your student storage order from pretty much any UK Mainland address; be it your home address, a business address or your student halls of residence. Our collection times are Mon-Fri between 9am-6pm, you should recieve a 2-hour timeslot on the day.

To ensure a successful student storage collection first time, make sure you enter your full address and an accurate postcode.

We can only collect from the ground floor, reception, or post room. Please make sure your student storage order is packed and ready and waiting on the ground floor for your driver to collect.

If you need extra assistance, we can offer a doorstep collection in some areas for an additional charge of £30.00. If you need this service please email us.

Unfortunately we can’t guarantee that you’ll get a call from the driver as not all our drivers carry mobile phones, so we always try and make sure that we get as much detail as we can to make sure there aren’t any problems that would necessitate a call. To make everything run as smoothly as possible, please tell us any special delivery instructions when you place your student storage order. Get in touch if there is anything that might make your delivery particularly tricky.

So that your collection will be successful the first time, please make sure you’ve entered your address accurately, with the correct postcode. Do also let us know any special delivery instructions, such as if you’d like us to pick up your boxes from a particular location, such as a garage, or if you’ve pre-arranged with a reception area to leave your boxes there.

If our driver or delivery partner is unable to collect your student storage items due to insufficient address information or an incorrect postcode, or if you are not at home or not ready when the driver arrives, there will be a charge of £17.95 to rearrange your collection.

Should our driver or delivery partner be unable to reach you within the collection window, due to unforeseen circumstances, we will rearrange your student storage collection free-of-charge. However, we do find that the vast majority of collections are successful the first time.

Unfortunately, we do not ship overseas. This will have to be arranged by the student. We will be happy to cooperate with you by providing our student storage warehouse address, and making sure your order is labelled and ready for collection.

We advise avoiding separating student storage orders as it can cause more complications to your order.

In case of emergencies, we ask that all student storage boxes/items are individually labelled so it is easier to separate orders. Re-deliveries cost £6.75 per box. If you choose to separate your student storage order, any extra re-deliveries will cost up to £20 per item per delivery.

Be available for the full delivery window.
Our deliveries usually take place between 9am and 6pm. You need to be available at the delivery address throughout this time or allow another person like a receptionist to sign for your stuff on your behalf. Where possible, we’ll provide you with an 2-hours estimated delivery time to help you plan your day. This’ll be emailed to you the evening before the delivery. All student storage deliveries are made to a ground floor location.

Please be aware that our time slots may vary after being sent due to traffic or other driving conditions.

If you’re on the move, that’s not a problem at all. We’ll deliver your student storage boxes to the ground floor of any address you like within mainland UK, be it a residential address, a business address or your student halls of residence. There are only some locations we can’t arrange delivery to, such as airports and train stations and some Scottish Highland Postcodes have an additional charge. All we need is a residential or commercial address and postcode.

Your student storage order may be sent out in multiple shipments'. Some larger student storage orders, with our courier, are sent out in multiple consignments. Please check your emails from our Courier DHL to confirm. If you are still missing items or haven't receive an email please contact us at info@door2doorstorage.com.

So that your delivery will be successful the first time, please make sure you’ve entered your address accurately, with the right postcode. Do also let us know any special delivery instructions, such as if you’d like us to leave your student storage boxes in a safe place or in a garage.

Coverage and Security

Every D2D box/suitcase is covered for up to £100 both in transit and also in our warehouse. We currently do not insure fragile items, including but not limited to – any glass,glassware, crockery, TVs, Electrical Items, Light bulbs, Printers, Musical Instruments, Improperly packed items etc.

If you are storing fragile items, please make sure they are thoroughly bubble wrapped and carefully packed to ensure they are safe during transport. We provide plenty of parcel tape with every order. Please make sure that every student storage box is well wrapped with parcel tape especially on all the edges of the box.

We do not offer any coverage for own boxes stored with us. We reccommend students take out their own insurance for their boxes.

All our student storage is located at our student storage facility with over 30,000sq ft of storage in our own modern warehouse and we have always placed an emphasis on safety and security.

1. Our warehouse has 24 hour Redcare intruder and fire security. This means that in the event of a break in or fire the emergency services are contacted automatically by an external service provider.

2. We have a 24 hour CCTV system that records all movements within our building on every floor and every corridor.

3. Staff trained to maintain and monitor all security services

4. Intruder alarm system on all doors & reception area

5. Fire & smoke alarm system throughout store

6. All stores monitored by Security Centre after trading hours

7. Staff walk-around before reception opens

8. Daily store patrols by staff

We use DHL for the collection and re-delivery of parcels.*

In addition each order is covered for up to £100 per box (subject to terms and conditions )
